I first learned about this band through a random [Adult Swim] bumper - which ended up taking me to this music video. And I had no idea how to feel about it LOL. I didn't hate it, but I didn't really like it either. So, I just left it alone and moved on. It wasn't until I stumbled upon the fans of Death Grips that I learned about how established they were in the music community! It confused me for a moment cause I didn't really get it. But, I decided to give them another shot since it's been a few years the last time I listened to them at this point. At first, I had the same reaction the first few listens. But then, I started humming the songs to myself. Andddd replaying music videos over and over. And then I became attached!
I think it's pretty funny how I started to get into this bizarre music group out of nowhere. But, I'm glad I did because their sound is so unique. It's what I imagine a energy drink in music form would sound like. Their music can also be very comforting for some reason too...? I can't explain it, but there's some comfort in MC Ride shouting the lyrics in some of these songs.
Like a lot of people, I found this guy through a popular TikTok sound. And after the fact, I quickly listened through his entire discography. I love the edgy vibe in his music and I love the beats he creates! I feel like everything he makes is so catchy. The one critique I have is that his songs are SO short! :( I need more of his songs to surpass 3 minutes. Welp on the bright side, it makes it easier for you guys to give him a listen if you haven't before. I know you wanna look at those songs on the left. Don't be shyyyy.
This guy's flow is insane! I feel like it's a crime how underrated this dude is. Not only do I like his lyrics, but I really like how flexible he can get on what he writes and raps about. Like, he can go from being silly to being a talented storyteller whenever he wants to - which I think is a superpower as an artist. I encourage you guys to give Jarv a listen!
I've been getting into 80s-90s hiphop lately & stumbled upon Beastie Boys in the process! I enjoy how much fun they have with their music when it comes to their lyrics, beats, mv, etc. It's always a joy listening to this group :)
